Phoenix Tyke

I applied to Phoenix to originally to foster only (as I have two (Frenchies already).

I put my foster application in, had my home check completed and passed. By the weekend I had a previous stray boy in my home (he had been in a temporary foster but needed to be moved due to change of circumstances).

Originally he was scared to be in a room without anyone, loved my other dogs but would cry and cry if left without a human in the room. The dog warden had found him tied to a pole in a park; for how long we didn't know.

He pulled like a steam train on a lead and barked very randomly at every noise. The Phoenix volunteer team were on hand to support me, chat and check in 24/7.

Luckily for him I also have children who are huge empaths, like me, and we all sprang into action. Lots of decompression, lots of routine and we now have the happiest and biggest cuddle-bug there is - he thinks he is the size of a 2kg dog not 16kg!

We failed our fostering contract and he is now adopted and very much one of the family. I think the volunteers knew I'd adopt him from the moment he was given to me. It was love at first sight.

Phoenix Tyke's journey has not ended with Phoenix. He continues to help, alongside me. We are still fostering and moving dogs onto their forever homes. He is a big foster brother helping me to analyse each dog's personality and charm. He isn’t afraid to teach them where the treat tin is either!

Phoenix Tyje is the most wonderful dog. He came to us with some woes through no fault of his own but he is evidence of what love, trust and determination can achieve.

Thank you for giving me this amazing dog - one we weren’t even looking for, but one we very much needed!
