I rescued my Phoenix girl in 2018.
We suspect she was an ex-breeder who had her three lots of puppies and was then no use financially to the old ‘owners’ so they gave her up claiming she was being bullied by the other Frenchies in the house.
We rescued her as a companion for my male Frenchie, Hendricks, who I sadly lost in October 2024. When she arrived she was nervous, had no idea what a toy was or what to do with it and was unsure about a kiss or a cuddle, suspecting she had experienced neither in her old home.
Fast forward to 2025 and she’s a different dog; still has a little separation anxiety but when I lost my boy in 2024 I don’t know how I would have coped if it wasn’t for Phoenix Duffy. It's so ironic that we say I rescued her when in fact she’s rescued me so many times over the years.
She’s a bossy little vocal lady and my little shadow, forever glued to my side whenever possible, living a very comfortable life with plenty toys, treats and all the love she could ever want. At 11 she’s most certainly gaining some pounds round the middle, from probably one too many treats here and there, but if you can’t gain some weight in retirement when can you?
Suspecting she was a little lonely since losing Hendricks we actually rescued a 3 year old Frenchie male, locally from another charity, who was at risk of being put to sleep because the owners didn’t know how to break some of his bad habits. He’s been with us 3 months now and is like a different dog, Phoenix Duffy keeping him in check and teaching him the ropes.
Thank you Phoenix for my girl, I couldn’t live without her.
